EXAMPLES OF INTELLIGENT AGENTS


 

There are a number of examples of intelligent agents. Some of the examples found on the web sites include:

http://www.pointcast.com –News Filter. The pointcast network is a free internet service that takes the work out of staying informed by broadcasting personalized news and information directly on the screen.

http://www.acses.com – Acses finds any book by title , author, keyword or ISBN search and compare prices , shipping times and shipping costs of one or more books from over 25 internet bookstores.

http://www.cs.umbc.edu/agents/help/ - Eliza in java. This is like a chat room but in this case the user chats with the computer. The user is free to ask any question and can also express himself freely. The agent on the other hand also ask and answers any question. Therefore Eliza is a sort of artificial intelligence.

http://www.autonomy.com – In this case there are two intelligent agents: The Autonomy Web Researcher and Autonomy Press Agent which searches for general information and check news sites based on a user’s input. Unlike other types of emerging applications with autonomy’s search agents, information about the individual is not shared with anyone else.

Other examples of intelligent agents include: OASIS- It is a sophisticated agent-realized air traffic control system. Also there are Demand and Decision Agents which deals with marketing on the internet. They make recommendations based on the preferences of the consumer. The decision agents "meet" with the demand agents to gather information requested by the user. The demand agents tell their providers the current demand of products by using information gathered form their interaction with decision agents.
